The Medicine Hat Tigers are off to play for junior hockey’s most coveted championship.

Supporters will have a brief opportunity to line the roads of Medicine Hat to wish the team well as they leave to play in the Memorial Cup tournament in Quebec.

The Tigers will leave Co-op Place at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, travelling north on Box Springs Boulevard Northwest to get on the Trans Canada Highway via Boundary Road Southeast.

The Medicine Hat Police Service, which will escort the Tigers out of the city, encourages fans to bring signs, noisemakers and team spirit for a proper send-off.

“Let’s line the streets, cheer them on, and show them how proud Medicine Hat is,” the police said on social media.

The Tigers are travelling to Calgary, where they will board a plane taking them east to Quebec.

Hockey action will get underway Friday in Rimouski, Que., when the Tigers will play hosts Rimouski Oceanic in Game 1 in the four-team round robin.

Game 2 will bring some feline on feline action when the Tigers take on the Moncton Wildcats on Monday.

On Tuesday, the Tigers will play the London Knights, who won the Ontario Hockey League.

All the games start at 5 p.m. Alberta time. Tune in live on Wild 94.5 radio with Will Bryant.
