May 25, 2025 | 6:54 AM

The Brooks Bandits are one win away from bringing home the first Fred Page Cup in the teams history.

They will have two chances to get the job done starting first with Game 6.

The Bandits scored four and defeated the Chilliwack Chiefs in Game 5 of the BCHL Finals for the Fred Page Cup to take a 3-2 series lead on Friday night at the CRA.

Zach Zahara stopped 25 of 27 shots he faced to earn his 15th win of the playoffs.

In the opening period, AJ Lacroix opened up the scoring early with a tic-tac-toe wrist shot goal from the low slot to take a 1-0 lead.

Ethan Beyer just three minutes later fired a quick top left shot to double that Bandits lead off a face off win by Davide Patella.

In the 2nd period, Nathan Brown had a toe drag wrist shot in the centre slot to make it 3-0 for the Bandits early in the period. Zach Zahara made two terrific saves in the period to keep the Chiefs off the board.

In the third period, Brady Milburn got the Chiefs on the board seven minutes into the period to bring the score to 3-1.

With under four minutes left in the period, Dwayne Jean Jy got the net front deflection to cut the deficit in half and bring the Chiefs within one.

Parker Lalonde would ice the game with an empty net goal to make it a 4-2 win for the Bandits.

The Bandits head back to Chilliwack to take on the Chiefs on Sunday night at 7 pm PT.

You can catch the broadcast on New Country 105.7 with Nathan Crosby and Ken Fleury.
